Crystalline fructose


Why are Americans overweight, why do 1 in 5 children have hypertension, why do so many people have diabetes,  and why do we keep buying products with fructose in it?

Fructose is processed by the body differently.  Also fructose's causal relationship to hyperlipidemia, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, coronary arterial disease and obesity remain a concern for public health

Crystalline fructose is a processed sweetener derived from corn that is almost entirely fructose.
It consists of at least 98% pure fructose, any remainder being water and trace minerals. It is used
as a sweetener in the likes of beverages and yogurts, where it substitutes for high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS)
and table sugar. Crystalline fructose is estimated to be about 20 percent sweeter than table sugar,[1] and
5% sweeter than HFCS.[2]

Production

Crystalline fructose is created from cornstarch, but other starches such as rice and wheat can be used.[3]
 In this method, corn is first milled to produce cornstarch, then processed to yield corn syrup which is almost
entirely glucose. The glucose obtained is reacted with a series of enzymes to convert nearly all the glucose
into fructose. The fructose is then allowed to crystallize out, and is finally dried and milled to produce
crystalline fructose.

Health effects

There are studies for and against the health benefits of crystalline fructose.[2]
Crystalline fructose is generally considered safe, but concerns have been raised about health effects,
particularly hepatotoxicity.[1] As of January 2010, the FDA has not designated crystalline fructose to
begenerally recognized as safe.[4]
Because crystalline fructose is sweeter than the sugars it replaces, less sugar can be used to produce
a desired level of sweetness, resulting in a roughly 5-percent reduction in the amount of calories.[2]
Fructose is also an isomer of glucose, carrying the same energetic value when burned.
Any positive health benefit of crystalline fructose consumption is fueled primarily by the fact
that fructose does have the same value as glucose when burned. However, fructose is processed 
by the body differently; fructose's causal relationship to hyperlipidemia, fatty liver disease, 
cirrhosis, coronary arterial disease and obesity remain a concern for public health analysts. [5]

Read the labels: Carageenan - Linked to breast and protrate cancers

The information below was sent to me in an email this morning.
All thought some people still drink soy, (I won't) Carageenan is not just in soy, but is in many food products and should be avoided. Carageenan is a commonly used as a food additive that is extracted form red seaweed by using a powerful alkali solvent.
Low molecular weight carrageenans are carcinogenic. Our gut changes the High molecular weight carrageenans to low molecular weight.  Facts below.

Some folks can eat just about anything. Some people might
have no problem producing a tall glass of homemade soymilk,
then converting it to chocolate milk by adding the
following ingredients: Three teaspoons of sugar. One
teaspoon of chocolate powder. Two tablespoons of Vaseline
petroleum jelly. The Vaseline might produce gastric
distress, and the soymilk drinkers would erroneously
conclude that they are "allergic" to soy. Some people
do not experience gastric discomfort caused by the
Vaseline-like  food additive, carrageenan. Many people do.

Carrageenan is a commonly used food additive that is
extracted from red seaweed by using powerful alkali
solvents. These solvents would remove the tissues
and skin from your hands as readily as would any acid.

Carrageenan is a thickening agent. It's the vegetarian
equivalent of casein, the same protein that is isolated
from milk and used to thicken foods. Casein is also
used to produce paints, and is the glue used to hold
a label to a bottle of beer. Carrageenan is the magic
ingredient used to de-ice frozen airplanes sitting on
tarmacs during winter storms.

IS CARRAGEENAN REALLY NATURAL?

Carrageenan is about as wholesome as monosodium glutamate
(MSG), which is extracted from rice, and can equally be
considered natural. Aspartame (NutraPoison) is also natural,
as it is extracted from decayed plant matter that has been
underground for millions of years (oil). So too are many
other substances such as carrageenan that can also be
classified by FDA and USDA as wholesome and natural
food additives.

Just because something comes from a natural source does
not mean that it is safe. The small black dots in the
eyes of potatoes contain substances that are instantly
fatal if eaten. Got poison? You will if you eat the
black dots on the "eyes" of potatoes.

Carrageenan is a gel. It coats the insides of a stomach,
like gooey honey or massage oil. Digestive problems often
ensue. Quite often, soy eaters or soymilk drinkers react
negatively to carrageenen, and blame their discomforting
stomachaches on the soy.

High weight molecular carrageenans are considered to be safe,
and were given GRAS status (safe for human consumption) by
the FDA. Low weight carrageenans are considered to be
dangerous. Even SILK admits this.

In order to get more information about carrageenan from
a scientist, I spoke with one of America carrageenan
experts, Joanne Tobacman, M.D. Dr. Tobacman teaches
clinical internal medicine at the University of Iowa
College of Medicine. I explained to Dr. Tobacman that
I rejected animal studies (we discussed valid concerns
about animal research, and why they never produce
reliable results for humans). I requested evidence of
human trials that might show carrageenan to be a
danger for human consumption.

Dr. Tobacman shared studies with me that demonstrate that
digestive enzymes and bacterial action convert high weight
carrageenans to dangerous low molecular weight carrageenans
and poligeenans in the human gut. These carrageenans
have been linked to various human cancers and digestive
disorders. Again, I remind you that Tobacman's evidence
and conclusions are based upon human tissue samples,
not animal studies.

I will cite additional information from four studies:

Polymers Used as Food Additives and Incidence of
Mammary Carcinoma, J. K. Tobacman, R. B. Wallace, M. B.
Zimmerman, Medical Hypothesis (2001), 56(5), 589-598

4) Structural Studies on Carrageenan Derived Oligisaccharides,
Guangli Yu, Huashi Guan, Alexandra Ioanviciu, Sulthan
Sikkander, Charuwan Thanawiroon, Joanne Tobacman, Toshihiko
Toida, Robert Linhardt, Carbohydrate Research, 337 (2002),
433-440

In her 1997 publication (1), Tobacman studied the effect
of carrageenan on the growth of cultured human mammary
epithelial cells over a two week period. She found that
extremely low doses of carrageenan disrupted the internal
cellular architecture of healthy breast tissue, leading
her to conclude:

  "The widely used food additive, carrageenan has
   marked effects on the growth and characteristics
   of human mammary myoepithelial cells in tissue
   cultures at concentrations much less than those
   frequently used in food products to improve
   solubility."

Tobacman continued her work by exposing low concentrations
of carrageenan for short intervals to human breast tissue
(2), and observed pathological alterations in cellular
membranes and intracellular tissues. Tobacman wrote:

  "These changes included prominence of membrane-
   associated vesicles that coalesced to form unusual
   petal-like arrays...and development of stacked
   rigid-appearing inclusions in the lysosomes that
   arose from the membranes of the petal-like arrays
   and from smaller, dense spherical bodies that
   formed clumps."

In reporting a historical perspective, Tobacman
revealed that carrageenan has been found to
destroy other human cells in tissue cultures,
including epithelial intestinal cells and
prostate cells. She concludes:

  "The association between exposure to low
   concentrations of carrageenan in tissue
   culture and destruction of mammary
   myoepithelial cells may be relevant to
   the occurrance of invasive mammary
   malignancy in vivo and provides another
   approach to investigation of mammary
   carcinoma."

Tobacman's third paper (3) explored the increased
incidence of mammary carcinoma to the increased
consumption of stabilizers and additives such as
guar gum, pectin, xanthan, and carrageenan. While
no relationship between the either above named
additives and cancer was observed, carrageenan
showed a strong positive.

Although high molecular weight carrageenans are
considered to be safe, Tobacman demonstrates that
low molecular weight carrageenans are carcinogenic.
She writes:

  "Acid hydrolysis (digestion) leads to shortening
   of the carrageenan polymer to the degraded form,
   poligeenan. It is not unreasonable to speculate
   that normal gastric acid...may act upon ingested
   carrageenan and convert some of which is ingested
   to the lower molecular weight poligeenan during
   the actual process of digestion. Also, some
   intestinal bacteria possess the enzyme
   carrageenase that degrades carrageenan."

Tobacman's 2002 publication (4) proves her earlier
hypothesis. She writes:

  "Mild-acid hydrolytic depolymerization of
   carrageenan affords poligeenan, a mixture of
   lower molecular weight polysaccharides and
   oligosaccharide products."

Tobacman is currently preparing and characterizing
low molecular weight poligeenans (carcinogenic)
that have been extracted from human digestion
modalities. Her yet-to-be published data suggest
that carrageenans are dangerous for human consumption.

My advice: Read labels. If there is carrageenan
in a product, select an alternative.

This morning, I checked my local supermarket (ShopRite,
Emerson, NJ) to see which soymilk manufacturers added
carrageenan to their formulas.

REFRIGERATED SOYMILKS

The largest selling soymilk in America is SILK.
Do I pick on the industry leader? Damned right I
do. SILK sets the standard. You deserve to know the
truth. Just for the record, when SILK changes
their formula they will become my hero. In my
opinion, SILK tastes better than any of the
commercially available soymilks. Unfortunately,
consumers sacrifice good health for good taste.
That is not a fair trade, particularly for
our children.

SILK uses carrageenan. SILK plain, SILK chocolate.
SunSoy also uses carrageenan. Hershey's real chocolate
is not so real. They use it too. So does Nesquik.

THESE COMPANIES DO NOT USE CARRAGEENAN

VitaSoy does not have carrageenan! they use barley flower
as a thickener. 8th Continent does not use carrageenan
either. Their choice is to use cellulose gel and soy
lecithin to create a smoother soymilk.

SHELF STABLE

On the shelf (non-refrigerated), I found Rice Dream.
They do not use carrageenan. They use xantham gum.
Soy Dream (made by Imagine Foods) does not use it
either. Their emulsifier is rice syrup. Eden Soy
does not use it. They use barley extract.

Do a little experiment. Drink a quart of SILK.
Pay careful attention to your carrageenen-induced
tummy ache and intestinal discomfort. Many consumers
unfairly blame that on soy. Now you know the truth.
Drink a quart of VitaSoy, 8th Continent, Soy Dream,
or Eden Soy, and you will not get the garrageenan-blues.

Why do some manufacturers "get it," while others
remain clueless?

The chicken and the egg

We went to the farmers market today to buy some eggs.  I asked the person selling them, what they feed the chickens.  I was told corn was added to the chickens diet.  Okay, fine.  Are they feed non-GMO corn.  They could not answer.

When chickens are feed things, those things end up in the eggs and abundantly so.  Needless to say, we bought no eggs.  We need to find a farmer that raises chickens and eggs and are careful what they eat.

A number of years ago, there was a product on the market that was derived from chicken eggs.  The chickens were feed certain things and they ended up in the eggs and the eggs were sold as alliterative medicine.  This shows that you are eating what the chicken eats when you eat the eggs.  If they are eating GMO corn with round up or any other poison in the food, it will end up in the egg.  No thanks!

Problematic Ingredients Are Found in Many Multi-Vitamins

In the U.S., many supplement makers add so-called 'flowing agents' into their capsules. Two common additives are:
  • Magnesium stearate
  • Titanium dioxide
Now, neither of these will cause any major harm in small doses. But they do add up over time, and magnesium stearate can cause a biofilm to be created in your intestine, which will prevent the absorption of nutrients.  The only purpose of it in the supplement is to help the raw materials become more slippery and easily flow through the machines that create the supplements.
Magnesium stearate is not a supplemental source of magnesium but rather a form of stearic acid. It's essentially chalk, and previous research has shown that it suppresses your natural killer cells, which are a key component of your immune system. Unfortunately, this chalk filler stimulates your gut to form a biofilm – a sort of sludge lining – that acts as an effective barrier to the absorption of not only that particular vitamin but all the nutrients you'd normally get from food sources as well. This is a major reason for focusing on nutritional foods rather than taking handfuls of vitamins each day.
Fortunately, once I became aware of this issue, I was able to get my personal brand multi-vitamins reformulated, so they do not contain magnesium stearate any longer. Titanium dioxide is another absolutely unnecessary color agent you don't want to see in your supplements, as it has been shown to cause autoimmune disorders.

Monsanto’s “Superweeds” Gallop Through Midwest

So Monsanto and other chemical companies thought they were smarter the creator.  They are making us sick and killing us for profit and are in the end making our world more disrupted.   We need to stop this insanity.  I suggest you get involved politically.  Visit your state and federal reps.  Tell them what you want. Get your friends to go with you.  Create rallies at there offices until they introduce legislation that outlaws the GMOs and the HFCS.  It may be better to start at the state level with literature like you find on this blog.

I suggest, as we are doing, that you read the labels and try to not buy or eat anything with corn or soy in it.
You will find out that it is not easy.  It is very difficult to do.

You also need to find products that are healthy, to offset the empty food that is purchased in the stores.

Note: One product is Natra Burst.  After 3.5 months on the product, my wife's high blood pressure is no more after about 2 years of it.

The longer you have high blood pressure the more damage it causes.   So stop it now or stop it before it starts.  Get this product and get off HFCS.

Beets (Beta Vulgaris) originated in the Mediterranean, and their history predates written history. Beets and their health benefits are mentioned in the writings of the neo-Babylonian era. It was noted by the Greeks as one of the most valuable foods there was. They and the Romans after them mentioned their health benefits, which included their abilities to give additional energy and to relieve constipation.
Growing Beets
Nearly two thirds of all beets are canned and not sold or eaten fresh. Beets grow easily and can withstand frost quite well. They can even be planted in gardens one month before the last frost of winter. The seeds of the beet are delicate and do best when the soil is cool and moist, as in early spring. They mature quickly and do well when planted in succession, three to four weeks apart. Seeds should be planted half an inch deep and about one inch apart. Rows should be spaced about twelve to eighteen inches apart. Planting seeds too deep may cause the seed to sprout more slowly. As the beets mature, they do quite well in warm weather conditions. When the seeds begin to sprout they often have multiple shoots. They will need to be thinned out so that they are one to three inches apart. Beets do not thrive well when they have to compete with weeds, as their roots are usually shallow. Weeding by hand is essential to preserving the young plants. Harvest time is about sixty days after planting.

Most people do not eat enough beets; for all of their healthy properties, they should be a part of our daily diet. In 100 grams this red veggie has only 42 calories, less than 10 grams of carbohydrates, and is thought to be the most perfect form of fiber we can eat. One cup of beets has zero fat of any kind, contains 1.5 grams of protein, 1 mg of iron, 27 mg of calcium, 43 mg of phosphorus, 10 mg of vitamin C, and 4 mg of niacin, sodium, and magnesium, as well as fiber, vitamin A, and biotin. Beets also contain folic acid and other B vitamins, which are  recommended for pregnant women as it may lower the risk of birth defects. In the Encyclopedia of Healing Juices, beets and their juice are noted to build up the blood, renew its minerals and natural sugars, and help to detox the liver. Some studies even show that betaine, an amino acid found in beets, can help prevent coronary and cerebral artery disease and that beet juice and powder have slowed the development of cancerous tumors in some patients. Beet greens have been shown to contain high levels of iron, vitamins A and C, and calcium.
Throughout history beetroots have been used for treatment of liver disorders due to their stimulating effect they have on the detoxification process. Betacyanin, the pigment that gives beets their rich crimson-purple hue, helps with the detox and is a cancer-fighting agent. Studies have found the fibers in beets have a cleansing effect on the intestines, helps to lower cholesterol and help protect against colon cancer.
High content of beta-carotene. Betanin, another pigment in beets, also has anti-inflammatory properties and can effectively lower the effects of stress. Some have noticed that while taking beetroot juice they had more success in fighting headaches, pain associated with a women’s menstrual cycle, pain in the lumbar region, toothache, and skin problems.

Our Apple Juice Is From China & Laced With Arsenic

According to F&WW, more than 70 percent of the apple juice consumed in the United States now comes from the People’s Republic of China, where the government has acknowledged a problem enforcing a new food safety law.  F&WW also reports that China makes wide use of arsenic-based pesticides in farming.
In a letter to Hamburg, F&WW’s Wenonah Hauter and Empire State’s Judy Braiman say apple juice should come in for special attention because it “is regularly consumed by children.”
“We find it unconscionable that FDA has not established tolerance levels for arsenic and other heavy metals in the foods we consume, especially for foods that are staples in children’s diets,” they wrote.

King Corn

They say you are what you eat and we eat mostly corn and 85 percent of it is GMO.  Though a computer analisis it can be discovered where most of the carbon in your body comes from.  I'll bet it is corn.  Just read the labels.

Much of the corn produced is feed to cattle, about 150 days before slaughter.  If they didn't butcher them, the cows would die from the corn. (corn and corn stocks)  The reasons are that the corn is GMO.  Again, what is it doing to us.

In your average steak:
Grass feed cattle contains 1.3 grams of saturated fat
Grain feed cattle contains 9 grams of saturated Fat

Yellow dent #2 is the type of corn that is produced in the Midwest part of this country.  Only one kind, no bio diversity.  So what happens if there is a blight on this variety and no corn available for the consumer.  Famine maybe?

Yellow corn has a lot of starch. It has been bread to be about 90% starch.  So isn't this good, for gaining weight that is.  Hummm.  Maybe that is why they feed it to cows. So should we be eating it, especially with weed killer in it's DNA.  What does the weed killer do to us, from the meat we eat, let alone the corn.  All beef is grain feed unless we know other wise.  Love our food supply. NOT!

There is no nutritional value in HFCS and it is in almost everything.  It just gives us calories and of course weight gain and adverse metabolic expense to our bodies. There are no recepters in our brains to tell us that we should stop consuming it.  Thus we over consume.

HFCS is linked to diabetes and 1 in 8 have it.  Again HFCS is in almost all food. The Corn is almost all GMO.  So what are you going to do about it? How about calling your Congress person and DEMAND THEY PUT A STOP TO THIS POISONING OF THE FOOD SUPPLY.

And, And, And, very little nutrition in the food makes us eat more and gain weight.

O my gosh, here they come.

GM Food is now being touted as Fortified Superfoods. They  Aim to Convince Public of the “Benefits”.  Spin, Spin, Spin

The world is somewhat resistance to GM foods as  ample evidence continues to build and has shown negative health effects, crop contamination, and species degeneration.  If one attempts to alter the design of nature then. the consumers need to make it known that if GM food is injected into the food chain that it must be clearly labeled.  
My view is that they should have GMO Stores if they want to sell their poison and let people decide to go to that store to buy.  I know I am dreaming but sometimes dreams come true.

Gain weight, get sick and die on American Food

I don't like consuming poison ever day, do you?  No, no one does.  The government is not protecting us.

If there is very little nutrition in the food, you will have to eat more to get the nutrition and thus you will become over weight.
I proved this with my dog.  I bought cheap dog food for my dog and he ate a lot of it.and got fat.  I switched to a high nutrition dog food and my dog ate less food and lost weight. Less yard pick up was need also.  Good nutrition makes us healthy and free of disease.

The same in true in the plant world.  Make the ground healthy, the plants will be healthy and no pesticides will be needed.  Abundant Garden sells an organic fertilizer that will make the ground healthy unlike chemical fertilizers.  I will get the website address and include it in a later blog.

Bad nutrition begets cancer and other diseases -

Big Pharma and government they work together against us.  Ignorance is not Bliss, it is sickness, pain, misery and death.  Know where the food comes from.  Most food comes from ground that has been polluted by the chemical fertilizers.  So we start with the ground, lacking in nutrition which makes the plants sick, sick enough to attract bugs to eat them because they are not worthy to live as sick as they are. Then the farmers spray pesticides on them to kill the bugs that are doing what God designed them to do.

Look what we get:  We get sick plant with low in nutrition fruits and vegetables, poison on the plants for us to consume when we eat the sick, lacing in nutrition plant. GMO plants with Round Up weed killer in them.  A plant fruit that our bodies were not meant to consume.

Congress passed laws that allow this and the supreme court has established the injustice.  Educate congress and get them to rewrite the laws.  They are not protecting us as required by the constitution.

Buy only organic if you can.  Push for the use of only organic fertilizers.  I will be selling the best organic fertilizer in the world shortly.
