High blood pressure/  hypertension is a part of  about 30 percent of the U.S. have it and it is on the increase.  The results of untreated is heart disease, stroke, dementia and kidney failure.   The following has shown significant reduction in high blood pressure heart disease and stroke.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore have a lot to say about High Blood pressure.

Points:
1. Did you know that antioxidants in dark chocolate can also lower blood pressure.  I love that Dark Chocolate.  Make it organic.

2.   DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension):low-sodium diet which was high in vegetables, fruit, and fiber was able to lower blood pressure by over 11 points in people with hypertension. Ad some safe fish and make the rest non-GMO.  The DASH diet is also high in calcium, magnesium, potassium, and anti-oxidants like vitamin C. So take some Magnesium pills also.

3.  Plant food and fiber, fish, seafood and olive oil lower all lower blood pressure.

4.  Live oil use relates to systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

5.  Antioxidants in dark chocolate can also lower blood pressure.Relaxation of blood vessels w/ vitamin C.     (500 mg per day)  This is great but better if you can get the full molecule of the vitamin in it natural state in the food you consume.

6.  And one cup of hibiscus tea taken 3 times daily was shown in a study to lower systolic blood pressure by 7 points.

7.  Magnesium, 230-460 mg per day, has been shown to lower blood pressure and to enhance the effects of blood pressure medications.
A note of Caution: It has been said, "Do not take magnesium supplements if you have kidney disease".
Take Co-enzyme Q-10, of 60-100 mg taken twice daily with food.  This may help.

8.  A UC Davis study found: 150-300 mg of grape seed extract a day does lowers the systolic  pressure by about 8 points after 4 weeks.

9. Exercise can lower your blood pressure by 4 to 9 points, if done regularly with slow, deep breathing.  It turns on "rest and digest" signals to the body.  Consistency is important to lowering the systolic blood pressure by as much as 10 points.

10.  Blood pressure issues or not:  Start a healthy intake of food and follow up with your doctor.  I suggest a good Natural Path Doctor.  Going Organic is the best.  If can't afford it all, do some until you can.  Every bit helps your health and it tells the food producers and sellers what we want.  Put your dollar where your health is.  Not with your doctor and the bid pharma.

New England Journal of Medicine   ----- http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa1200303  There are indications that the Mediterranean diet protects against heart attack, stroke or death from cardiovascular causes in older adults with high cardiovascular risk.  The Mediterranean diet is high in fruit, vegetables, fish, legumes, nuts and olive oil.  About a 29% less risk.  So this must be good for the rest of us also.  Just stay away from the GMOs and Chemicals that is in most of the food supply.
